2024 – Reflections, Missteps, and Coffee

Can you believe it’s almost 2025? It’s been one rollercoaster of a year, navigated with coffee in one hand and a to-do list in the other, and now we’re pausing to reflect— again with our coffee!

Was the year like a Cafe latte or several cups of strong espressos? I like to think of our experiences as the aroma, our feelings as the taste, and the lessons as the aftertaste of the cuppa! Reflecting on the year is definitely like making the perfect coffee.

Ever notice how some of us skim through the year, only stopping at the big, flashy lights and totally missing the little wins? It’s like downing that espresso without really tasting it, missing all those subtle flavors that round out the experience.

Sometimes, we get hung up on what went wrong, letting it overshadow our steps forward. It’s like crying over spilled coffee instead of remembering all our good cups or even making another one!

Setting goals or looking back can get as tangled as that coffee order with all the extras. You know, when keeping it simple would have just hit the spot so much better.

So, How Do I Reflect?

Fresh Start

I try to see reflection like making a new cup of coffee. Finding that quiet moment to inhale the past year really sets the stage for some honest-to-goodness reflection.

Savor Each Moment

Rushing through memories? No thanks. I prefer taking it slow, appreciating both the big moments and the small. Each experience, sweet or bitter, adds to our year’s unique flavor. I find myself asking, “What did I learn?” and “How have I grown?”

The Bitter with the Sweet

Not every moment was a walk in the park, but sitting with those not-so-great times, recognizing them for the learning opportunities they are, has its place in our reflection. Instead of letting them take over, we try to find the lesson in each.

A double shot to help

Balancing out the bitter, I make it a point to celebrate the wins, big or small. Remembering the smiles and joys is like adding an extra shot to your cup of Latte, enhancing that overall flavor.

Simple and Sweet Goals

Looking forward, I aim for clear and achievable goals, kind of like sticking to a classic coffee order. Nothing too fancy, just straightforward targets that keep me moving forward, feeling good. And my definition of achievable is Stretch because Stretch is achievable. Stretch is growth. Stretch is in the mindset.

Mixing the Perfect Blend

Reflecting on the year doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Find a comfortable space, , coffee in hand, thinking back on the year, let’s promise to take our time, welcome both the sweet and the bitter, and celebrate our journey with simplicity and truth.

Here’s to a year that was and to stepping into the next with hope, positive energy, and an open mind. Cheers to resilience, growth, and the countless cups of coffee that got us through.

So, here’s to brewing a fresh pot and facing the start of something new with optimism and grace.

Happy New Year! May your coffee be strong, your reflections insightful, and your path forward bright. Keep that growth mindset going!
